A Tour of Bracewell Veterinary Centre

Practice History
Lanes Vet Group formed in 2007 as a merger of two longstanding practices.

Mission Statement
‘Our aim is to provide high quality care, in a professional and caring environment.’

Bracewell ReceptionReception
We have a reception area which is open with a friendly feel about it. Our receptionists endeavour to present our clients with a warm and friendly welcome. We stock high quality Royal Canin food and a range of pet toys and accessories. We have three display boards that provide information to our clients, one informing them of what that month's promotion is. Other literature is displayed giving our clients detailed information on a range of subjects.

Bracewell Consulting RoomVet Consulting Room
We have two well equipped consulting rooms at Bracewell's for vet consultations and nurse clinics. They contain all the necessary equipment for examining your pet, whether this is for a routine vaccination or if your pet is unwell.

All consultations are by appointment only.

Nurse Clinics/Services

Here at Bracewell's our nurses run a range of clinics including flea, worming, oral hygiene, diabetic, geriatric, diet and weight.

Also one of our nurses is now training to become a behaviourist and is running some clinics in this area referred to her by the veterinary surgeons in practice.
The area of nurse clinics and services is developing all the time so will be updated as things do develop.

Bracewell Prep RoomPrep Room
As the name suggests, this is the room used to prepare all our patients prior to surgical or medical procedures. They may need to be anaethetised, and then a surgical site clipped and cleaned, prior to being moved into theatre. We also use this room for our diagnostic procedures, x-rays, ultrasounds, ECGs, endocscopy and dentals. We also monitor our intensive care patients in this area.

Bracewell Operating TheatreOperating Theatre
We have a full surgical suite with extensive modern surgical instruments and equipment. We use modern safe anaesthetic agents which are administered by the veterinary surgeons and monitored by our nurses. We use a respiratory monitor and a pulse oximeter to aid us in the monitoring of anaesthetics. We use a specifically designed anaesthetic monitoring chart to record every aspect of your pet's anaesthetic.

Kennels
We have two kennel areas; one for dogs and one for cats, which are used to house all our hospitalised patients. The kennels vary in size to cater for all our client's pets be they large or small. Each day a veterinary surgeon and veterinary nurse are assigned to the ward to administer medication, monitor treatment, record details of care, enrich patients' environment and exercise the patient to make his/her stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. Owners of long stay patients are encouraged to visit their pet where appropriate and this can be arranged with the vet/nurse looking after the case. Each of these areas has its own air conditioning unit which can either heat or cool the room depending on the requirements of the patients.

Training Status
Here at Bracewell's we have worked hard and have achieved both RCVS Tier Two training status and the Practice Standard award. This means that we have had rigorous inspections to check we provide a high standard of veterinary care, staff training, cleanliness and have a good range of equipment. We hope that this will give our clients additional confidence and know that their animals are in the best hands.

We have also now been able to display the ‘Skills Pledge Logo’ on all our paperwork, this government logo proves that we as a group are dedicated to providing ongoing training to all our staff and we are very proud to have been granted permission to show this on all our paperwork.

Open Day
We host an open day annually, usually in the summer months. This is an exciting day as there is so much to do and see.

We have guided tours of the practice so you get to see behind the scenes where your animals are treated. We have raffles, special offers, refreshments and a variety of competitions and stalls and many, many more things for you to do and see.

When we have these open days all the funds raised go to a nominated charity for that year.
