Practice Tour

Practice History
Lanes Vet Group formed in 2007 as a merger of two longstanding practices.

Mission Statement
‘Our aim is to provide high quality care, in a professional and caring environment.’

ReceptionReception
Our receptionists pride themselves on their friendly and welcoming manner and are always on hand to assist you.

Waiting RoomWaiting Room
The waiting room is spacious with plenty of room for more nervous patients to avoid contact with others. We also stock a large range of pet products and foods which our receptionists will be glad to assist you with.

Nurses Consulting RoomConsulting Rooms
We have two well equipped consulting rooms where the vets can examine your pet if it is unwell or carry our routine examinations at time of annual vaccination.

Nurse Consulting Room
The nurses have their own consulting room where they run their own clinics to help you with general healthcare.

They will also admit your pet for its operation and discharge him/her afterwards giving your aftercare instructions.

Prep RoomPrep Room
This room is used mainly for preparing animals for surgery. This is where the vet and nurse anaesthetise animals, clip hair from the surgical site and clean that area before surgery. We also take blood samples and set up intravenous drips here.
This room contains a tub table used for bathing dogs, and ultrasonic scaling of teeth.

Operating TheatreOperating Theatre
This is the room where all our surgical procedures are performed and contains only vital equipment in order to maintain cleanliness and sterility. During the operation only the patient, vets and nurses required to perform the operation and monitor the patient are present in order to decrease contamination.

Diagnostics RoomDiagnostic/Imaging Suite
Here we keep our X-ray machine, ultrasound scanner, ECG and blood pressure equipment.

This room has an adjacent dark room with an automatic processor so that we an develop any X-rays taken immediately.

Most people are familiar with the use of X-rays to look at broken bones and scanners to look at unborn babies, but we can also use these facilities to look at the heart and lung problems, foreign bodies in the stomach or intestines and often cancerous growths amongst other problems.

Monitoring ECG and blood pressure is useful in high risk anaesthetic patients as well as helping to diagnose circulatory disease.

Lab areaLaboratory
In our laboratory we do many many tests which previously had to be sent to external labs. Most blood and urine tests can be done by us, often in our own lab and sometimes in our laboratory at our Garstang branch.

Blood tests can help us to look at the function of internal organs such as the liver and kidneys. This helps to diagnose problems or to give us a better indication of a patients response to anaesthetic.

We also use our microscope to look at tissue samples, for example looking for parasites or bacteria in a skin disease, or looking for abnormal cells in a sample needle biopsy from a lump.
Having our own lab facilities means that results are available more quickly – usually the same day and often within an hour or so. They also keep the cost to the client as low as possible.

Kennel RoomKennel Room
The kennel room contains a large variety of different sized kennels to suit all sizes of patient whilst waiting and recovering from surgery or being treated whilst unwell. The room is kept comfortably warm, and all kennels are easy to clean and disinfect. We have a separate “walk in” kennel for larger patients, or to isolate patients with an infectious problem so that they do not infect other animals.

Training Status
Here at Dimple's we have worked hard and have achieved both RCVS Tier Two training status and the Practice Standard award. This means that we have had rigorous inspections to check we provide a high standard of veterinary care, staff training, cleanliness and have a good range of equipment. We hope that this will give our clients additional confidence and know that their animals are in the best hands.

We have also now been able to display the ‘Skills Pledge Logo’ on all our paperwork, this government logo proves that we as a group are dedicated to providing ongoing training to all our staff and we are very proud to have been granted permission to show this on all our paperwork.
