Services for the Care of Your Cat

Sharing your life and home with a pet cat is a joy! They provide hours of fun with their comical play and cuddling up at the end of the day with a purring cat is very relaxing. This may be why cats are now the most popular domestic pet in the UK.

Cats commonly live well into their teens and your pet will need lots of love care and attention from you during their lifetime.

Providing the correct environment is very important for keeping your cat happy and content. Cats are generally solitary, territorial hunters; they like to be able to hide and camouflage themselves, they enjoy high places and small dark areas too. Providing your cat with a choice of different places to go is very important to their wellbeing. Please have a look at our information sheets for more information.

In order to keep your cat as healthy as possible we recommend regular vaccinations, flea control and worming. At Lanes Vets we offer our VIP Pet Health Plan as a means of spreading the cost of these essential preventative health measures. The Pet Health Plan allows you to pay by monthly direct debit and incorporates savings at the same time. Please ask us for details.

We recommend that all cats, not being used for breeding, are neutered to prevent unwanted kittens. A female cat is capable of becoming pregnant from as early as 4 months of age and can have a litter of 4-5 kittens 3-4 times every year! A male cat can be responsible for a huge number more! At Lanes Vets we recommend neutering kittens from 4 months old before they are capable of breeding. Our VIP Pet Health Plan gives a 10% discount on neutering.

Cats that are allowed access to the outdoors are at risk of wandering, getting lost, picked up by someone else or injured. At Lanes Vets we recommend microchipping your cat so that, if the worst happened and your cat became lost, it is possible to scan the microchip and return your pet to you. We also recommend pet insurance so that if your pet becomes injured or sick you have  help with the costs of treatment.

Lanes Vets are happy to talk to you about any aspect of cat care, please contact us if you would like further information.
